The Market Town
Yarm is a small market town enclosed on three sides by a meander of the river Tees and its name refers to fish pools. With a history dating back to Anglo - Saxon times, Yarm was an important port in medieval times. Its fortunes declined as ships got bigger and were no longer able to navigate further than Stockton. Attractive Georgian buildings bound the busy high street. It has a population of 9000.
The Hall
The hall was built as a Methodist Chapel in 1890 and is a substantial building constructed of brick with a slate roof. It is heated by gas fired central heating radiators.
