The eighteen halls of Redcar and Cleveland that are part of the TVRCC's Tees Valley Village Hall project stretch from the outskirts of Middlesbrough at Lazenby, to the sandy beaches and towering cliffs of the North Sea at Saltburn and Skinningrove and the Moors at Moorsholm. Most of the villages were created or enlarged in the C19th when ironstone mining was a major industry in the area.  Though mining has long gone the villages have been left with a legacy of close knit communities in modernised mining cottages.
